The POWER-GEN Africa 2014 Call for Papers is now officially open. The Advisory Board of POWER-GEN Africa is now accepting abstracts for the 2014 Conference. The Abstract Submittal Deadline is 31 May 2013.

You are invited to share your knowledge and experience at this important industry gathering by submitting an abstract of a paper you wish to deliver to this audience. The conference Advisory Board is looking to develop a three-track conference under the broad headings of Strategy, Technology and Renewable Energy and invite abstracts on the topics set out on the Conference Page.

POWER-GEN AFRICA 2014 EVENT INFO

POWER-GEN Africa will move to Cape Town, Republic of South Africa, on 17-19 March 2014 and will once again provide comprehensive coverage of the power needs, resources, and issues facing the electricity generation industries across sub-Saharan Africa.

Africa’s power requirements continue to expand with the rapid growth and development through out the continent driving the need for more widespread and reliable electricity.

With POWER-GEN Africa’s conference and exhibition focusing on all aspects of the conventional power industry, focusing on the development and demands within sub-Saharan Africa, the event brings together the world’s leading power equipment suppliers along with those developing power infrastructure in this dynamic region of the world.

POWER-GEN AFRICA & RENEWABLE ENERGY WORLD AFRICA 2012 HIGHLIGHTS

POWER-GEN Africa and Renewable Energy World Africa 2012 began on Tuesday 6th November 2012 and over 3 days we welcomed over 2,100 people in attendance from over 60 countries worldwide.

The Opening Keynote Session was attended by over 200 delegates, hosted by Mr. Nigel Blackaby, Director of PennWell Conferences, PennWell Corporation and included presentations from Mr. Omphi Aphane, Deputy Director General, Ministry of Energy, South Africa; Engr. Reynolds Bekinbo Dagogo-Jack, Chairman, Presidential Task Force on Power, Nigeria; and Mr. Kannan Lakmeeharan, Divisional Executive, Office to the Chief Executive, Eskom, South Africa.


At the conclusion of the Opening Keynote session the Keynote Speakers made their way to the POWER-GEN Africa and Renewable Energy World Africa Exhibition Floor and officially opened the inaugural event with a Ribbon Cutting and Tour of Exhibitors at the Exhibition.

The Exhibition itself hosted a range of local and international companies of high stature, including exhibits from Andritz Hydro, Ansaldo Energia, Bilfinger, GE Power & Water, Eskom, Hitachi, MAN Diesel, Pratt & Whitney, Wartsila, WorleyParsons and many others.

    

After the official opening the Conference continued with the Joint Plenary Panel Discussion, based upon the topic of "Powering Africa's Growth - The Energy Challenge Ahead". This included contributions from Alstom, Andritz Hydro, the Former Tanzanian Minister of Energy & Minerals and the Former Rwandan Minister in Charge of Energy & Water. 

This was followed by Conference Sessions on Energy Security, Power Sector Regulation, Gas Turbine Technology, Steam Technology, Renewable Energy Policies for Sustainable African Developmentand Wind Project Development - Past, Present and Future. 

Over the 3 days, the Exhibition Floor continued to be open enabling the opportunity to meet previous contacts, make new business contacts, network and create new business opportunities.

The Conference included many significant and interesting topics with a host of high-quality international and local speakers covering the three concurrent tracks that make up the POWER-GEN Africa and Renewable Energy World Africa Conference Programme.

In addition to this, on Thursday 8th November 2012, the three tracks continued, and the event closed with a Closing Reception and Best Papers Awards Ceremony. With a leading line up of international industry speakers, delivering over presentations covering 3 tracks, Strategic, Technical and Renewables, during the 3 day conference in Johannesburg, this was one event you just could not miss.
